A surprise appointment, Maureen Baker had already been chief designer for any ready-to-wear label called Susan Small for 30 decades when she bagged the prize of developing a wedding ceremony gown for glamorous youthful Princess Anne, who then looked like a slightly equine British model of Catherine Deneuve. Maureen was unfamiliar then, and unidentified she was to remain.
