Onir has said that his new work I Am has been well received by international audiences.

The filmmaker told Digital Spy of the reception the film has had at a number of festivals around the world.

Speaking about the project, which is divided into four short stories, the director revealed: "I am overwhelmed with the response to the film in Sydney and Melbourne and looking forward to the screenings at Adelaide and Auckland.

"When you see people in different cultures embracing the film with open arms, as a filmmaker, that's the best gift."

The production, which stars Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla, Manisha Koirala and a number of Indian film actors in special appearances, was also selected to open the 13th London Asian Film Festival.

"Now I am looking forward to be in London where I Am again had a great reception," added the My Brother Nikhil director, who financed the project through the use of social network sites.

The film, which addresses a range of social issues in India, is scheduled to release April
